Jockey Frankie Dettori has been given a three-day suspension for causing interference that led to the disqualification of his mount from first to eighth-place in the fifth race at Santa Anita on Oct. 28. Dettori was cited for his ride on Circle of Trust, who altered course on the turn without clearance. The suspension begins Sunday and covers racing on Nov. 25-26. The gap in the days of the penalty was necessitated because of a previous suspension issued to Dettori by British stewards in late October for 16 racing days from Nov. 7 to 24 issued by British stewards for excessive use of the whip. The penalty will prevent Dettori from riding the Melbourne Cup program at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia, next week. Dettori said he plans to travel to Australia to participate in racing-related promotions. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
