He’s done his best racing on the turf but a rare switch to this surface bears close watching, especially with Vincent Ho engaged for trainer Caspar Fownes. #10 Ares gets back onto the dirt. He’s done well on the surface previously and with the light weight he looks favoured. #9 Ahead A Head draws well and should be able to use the good gate. #5 All Is Good makes his first start after showing plenty of ability on the dirt at Conghua in trials. Don’t discount on debut. Race 2: Lau Fau Shan Handicap #1 Lumen Baba dips to Class 5. This grade appears more than suitable for him, especially after arriving in Hong Kong to initially contest Class 3. Both Lyle Hewitson and Douglas Whyte can continue their scintillating run of form here. #8 General Trump knows what it’s all about as a course and distance winner previously. He draws well and warrants consideration. #7 Tronic Mighty is improving in this grade. Strong booking of Zac Purton commands respect. #6 Regency Gem steps away from gate five. Next best. Race 3: Hung Shui Kiu Handicap #1 Flying Mighty steps onto the dirt. He’s closing in on a first win and it wouldn’t shock to see him land it here. He’s drawn wide so expect he rolls back and finishes off strongly for Zac Purton. #3 Loyal Ambition is nearing a first win also. He should improve again now in Class 5. #7 Oriental Amigo is yet to win but he is racing well in Class 5. The added distance looks like it’s beginning to enhance his chances. #11 Speed Force is holding his condition. He’s winner already on the dirt this season and since then he’s done nothing but please. Race 4: Lam Tei Handicap #10 This Is Charisma should already be a winner in Hong Kong. He’s gone close several times but once again he gets his chance here over a suitable trip with Zac Purton engaged. #6 Victory More improved from the tail of the field last start. Perhaps he needs to be ridden that way and once again further improvement is expected again. #9 Red Brick Glory only needs to offset the awkward draw to be competitive. #12 Noble Man has hit a solid patch of form. The light weight suits and he can test this group. Race 5: Nam Sang Wai Handicap (1st Section) #4 Yellowfin appears to have plenty of early ability. He’s trialled well in the lead-up to his debut and his pairing with Zac Purton commands plenty of respect. #3 Super Win Dragon knows how to close off. He owns a powerful finish and he should be able to take advantage of this asset here. #7 E Brother slots in light and pairs favourably with Joao Moreira. He’s racing well and should be a factor. #9 Coolceleb mixes his form but does tend to show his best on the dirt. He can make his presence felt. Race 6: Mai Po Handicap #11 Sun Of Makfi is doing everything right except win. He’s looking to snap a treble of placings with his first win this week which, he looks capable of collecting from gate one. #1 Amazing Teens is holding his condition. He narrowly missed two starts ago and any return to that level of form holds him in good stead. #9 Heavenly Thought did well at the tail of the field last time out. Expect he can take another step forward. #10 Steel Win slots in light. He’s a threat in his spot, especially on the dirt where has had success before. Race 7: Tin Shui Wai Handicap #4 Bear Slam is in very, very good form. He narrowly missed last start and it wouldn’t surprise to see him go one better here. The inside gate and booking of Blake Shinn are ideal. #5 Leap Of Faith is closing in on another win. He has his third start on the dirt in succession with Zac Purton and he looks well placed to show something now. #1 So We Joy is chasing back-to-back wins. He draws to get the saloon passage along the rail which has rewarded him in the past. #3 Apache Pass is a two-time winner on the dirt this term. Keep safe. Race 8: Tuen Mun Handicap #12 Resolute is a course and distance winner previously. He’s done well on the dirt in the past and his latest run from the tail of the field to grab fifth was full of merit. He’s worth taking a chance on at big odds. #8 Private Rocket turned his form around to grab third last start on the dirt. He’s raced well on the surface previously albeit sparingly; the inside gate suits and he could easily continue Lyle Hewitson’s purple patch. #9 Like That should find the front and give a good account of himself. He’ll take catching. #1 Ka Ying Master knows what it’s all about. Don’t discount. Race 9: Yuen Long Handicap #9 Berlin Tango has the ability and with the favours he can finally put his best foot forward and a nail a maiden Hong Kong win. The inside gate and light weight have him favoured here. #6 Czarson has claims on the dirt. He’s well rated and should be able to make the most of his lowly impost. #3 Telecom Fighters draws well and has been racing very, very well of late. Strong booking of Zac Purton commands respect. #12 Chancheng Prince slots in light and knows what it’s all about, especially as an American-bred two-time winner on the dirt.
