GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Trainer Dallas Keen won two stakes on the Summer Turf Festival program at Lone Star Park on Sunday, when Curlin’s Journey accounted for the $75,000 Wasted Tears and My Boanerges captured the $75,000 Grand Prairie Turf Sprint. “We’re glad to be back in Texas,” said Keen, who had spent time based in California. The Wasted Tears and Grand Prairie Turf Sprint were among four turf stakes on the program. The races were worth a cumulative $300,000. Curlin’s Journey ($4.60) became a stakes winner in the Wasted Tears, when she closed with good energy to win the 1 1/16-mile turf race for fillies and mares. Curlin’s Journey was content to let the speed go, settling in sixth as Elle’s Town took the field through fractions of 24.32 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.84 for the half-mile and 1:12.23 for six furlongs. She knows how to win.” Curlin’s Journey won by two lengths over Valentines Day. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third to Brandons Babe. Curlin’s Journey has now won 6 of 34 starts for earnings of $347,169. She is a daughter of Curlin who races for Tony Crognale and Fred Dullano. My Boanerges ($8.40) won his second straight stakes race at the meet in the Grand Prairie Turf Sprint. He set fractions of 21.62 seconds for the opening quarter and 43.91 for the half-mile before finishing up the five furlongs for 3-year-olds and up in 55.68 seconds. My Boanerges won by three-quarters of a length over Archidust. It was another half-length back in third to Share the Upside. Rudy Guerra rode the winner for Nancy Lock, who bred and owns My Boanerges. The horse is a son of Diabolical. He has now won 7 of 11 starts for earnings of $273,670. My Boanerges was coming off a win in the $100,000 Chamberlain Bridge, an off-the-turf stakes May 31 at Lone Star. He was winning on turf for the first time in his career Sunday. Yes It’s Ginger ($7.60) was always prominent to win the first stakes race of her career in the $75,000 Chicken Fried Stakes for fillies and mares over five furlongs on turf. She raced with fractions of 21.73 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.14 for the half-mile before darting home four lengths in front, in 55.69. She was winning the fifth race of her 17-race career Sunday.  Artie's Rumor wins Singletary Artie’s Rumor ($14) became a stakes winner when he closed from last to capture the $75,000 Singletary over Hard Attack. Artie’s Rumor trailed the field early, advanced on the backside, made a three-wide move around the final turn, and rallied through the stretch to cover the 1 1/8 miles on firm ground in 1:48.05.
