There weren’t many takers the three times Concrete Rose went through the auction ring. The most the filly fetched in those outings was a relatively modest $61,000 when sold to her current connections as a juvenile.  That now looks like a rock-solid investment. Concrete Rose is now a millionaire, with victories in six of her seven starts for earnings of $1,218,650. :: DRF BREEDING LIVE: Real-time coverage of breeding and sales A Grade 2 winner as a juvenile, the Twirling Candy filly has won all four of her starts this year, all in stakes company, most recently winning the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks before rolling in the inaugural Saratoga Oaks. Those are the first two legs of New York’s new Turf Tiara, completed with the Jockey Club Oaks on Sept. 7 at Belmont.  Concrete Rose, bred by Ron Patterson in Kentucky, is the only winner from three starters out of the winning Powerscourt mare Solerina. There is no black type under her second dam, the unraced Sabrehill mare Sky Blue Girl.  Concrete Rose, an April 5 foal, was offered as a weanling at the 2016 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, but failed to meet her reserve with a high bid of $19,000. She went back through the Keeneland ring as a yearling the following September, and sold for $20,000 to JW Bloodstock. The filly then sold for $61,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale, with bloodstock agent David Ingordo signing the ticket. Concrete Rose now races for Ashbrook Farm and BBN Racing, and is trained by Rusty Arnold.
