Che Evasora, winner of the Group 1 Gran Premio Criadores for fillies and mares in Argentina in May, has joined trainer Phil D’Amato’s California stable in advance of the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar on Nov. 2. Che Evasora, a 6-year-old Argentine-bred mare, earned a fees-paid berth to the BC Distaff win the recent stakes win, her final start in South America. D’Amato said that Che Evasora cleared quarantine in late June in Florida and is currently at Santa Anita. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets. Che Evasora may start at Del Mar, with the restricted $100,000 Tranquility Lake Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on dirt on Sept. 2 as a potential goal. The Tranquility Lake is restricted to fillies and mares who have not won a stakes worth $50,000 to the winner, other than statebred races, at a mile or more since Feb. 1. Che Evasora earned approximately $18,500 for her win in the Gran Premio Criadores at 1 1/4 miles at odds of 57-1. D’Amato said Che Evasora will have a limited campaign in California in coming months before the BC Distaff. “I’d like to get one race into her for the Breeders’ Cup,” he said. “That’s probably our best plan to get her there ready to go.” Another option is the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita in early fall. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
