Casa Creed, an eight-time stakes winner with four Grade 1 triumphs, has been retired from racing, trainer Bill Mott said Sunday. Mott said the 8-year-old Casa Creed had an issue with the suspensory branch of a hind ankle. “It was starting to bug him,” Mott said. “He’s sound now, turned out, we don’t want to push him any further. He was very cool, very consistent, very honest. Most of his races have been on the grass, but he did win on the dirt. It’d be nice if somebody gave him an opportunity as a stallion prospect.” Casa Creed is a son of Jimmy Creed out of the Bellamy Road mare Achalaya and was owned by Lee Einsidler and Mike Francesa, the latter the retired well-known sports radio talk show host. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! He won two editions of the Grade 1 Jaipur at Belmont Park and two runnings of the Grade 1 Fourstardave at Saratoga, including last year as a 7-year-old. “A big part of life is making great memories and some of the best memories I’ve had in my life are because of Casa Creed,” Einsidler said. “The day before the race, the day of the race, the day after the race are three of my favorite days throughout the entire year. To participate in Grade 1 races in two of the most famous racing venues in the world - Belmont Park and Saratoga - and win two Grade 1s at Belmont and two Grade 1s at Saratoga is a horseowner’s dream come true a hundred-fold.” Einsidler also praised Casa Creed for his third-place finish, beaten a half-length by Master of The Seas, in last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita. Other stakes wins recorded by Casa Creed included the Grade 2 National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame as a 3-year-old in 2019 and the Grade 3 Kelso, as well as the listed Elusive Quality and Kitten’s Joy. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
