Salow remained undefeated in two starts with a sharp allowance win Sunday at Lone Star Park and is now under consideration for stakes options at Kentucky Downs and Remington Park. Trainer Terry Brennan said Monday he and owners Tony Caver and D.K. Strickland are discussing what direction to take with Salow. They are looking at either the $750,000 Dueling Grounds Derby at 1 5/16 miles on the turf Sept. 10 at Kentucky Downs or the Grade 3, $200,000 Oklahoma Derby at 1 1/8 miles on dirt Sept. 27 at Remington Park. :: Start earning weekly cashback on your wagering today. He won a maiden special weight at a mile July 3 at Gulfstream Park, then came back and defeated a seasoned group of older horses in a first-level allowance at 1 1/8 miles on turf Sunday at Lone Star. Salow covered the distance in a sharp 1:47.57 and for the effort earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 86. “He runs really well for a horse that’s only had two starts,” Brennan said of the son of Distorted Humor. “He’s all business.” Salow shipped in from Double M Training Center in Hot Springs, Ark. Brennan likes how he’s handled dirt in his training enough for the Oklahoma Derby to be on the table as an option. “We’re going to try him on the dirt, eventually,” he said. Salow’s dam, Eve Giselle, was a Grade 3 winner on dirt who earned $288,620.
