For an international race, American stables have dominated the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, winning 11 of 14 runnings since its inception in 2008. This Friday and Sunday, three stakes at Aqueduct, Keeneland, and Santa Anita will help determine the depth of the U.S.-based team for the $1 million Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 1 at Del Mar. The home team may need strength in numbers. Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien, who won the race at Keeneland in 2022, has two notable candidates this year in the undefeated Lake Victoria and Heavens Gate, winner of the Group 3 Weld Stakes at The Curragh in Ireland last Sunday in her seventh start. Lake Victoria, winner of two Group 1 races in September, may start in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket Racecourse on Oct. 11 in England. At Keeneland on Friday, the winner of the Grade 2 Jessamine Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf will earn a fees-paid berth to the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. :: ON SALE NOW: DRF Breeders' Cup Packages!
