DEL MAR, Calif. - D. Wayne Lukas will not be at Del Mar when Preakness winner Seize the Grey runs in Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. “I got 12 to run this week here and 38 I’m training here,” Lukas said by phone Wednesday from Churchill Downs. “For me to go out there for 13 days and sit in there in front of a horse didn’t make any sense to me. If I thought my being there could make a difference I’d be there.” Lukas said he speaks with his assistant Sebastian “Bas” Nicholl each day. Lukas said he’s very happy with Seize the Grey coming into the race off a victory in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx on Sept. 21. “The horse is probably doing better than at anytime since I had him,” Lukas said. :: Get the inside scoop from the morning workouts with Breeders' Cup Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the DRF Clocker Team Seize the Grey is owned by MyRacehorse and there are approximately 2,500 partners on the horse, so there will no lack of representation should he win.
