LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bravazo was the only horse besides Justify to compete in all three Triple Crown events this year, but apparently that wasn’t enough action. Ten days after the June 9 Belmont Stakes, Bravazo was back on the work tab at Churchill Downs, breezing a half-mile Tuesday in 47.80 seconds. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Bravazo is ready for the second half of the racing season and will make his next start in either the July 29 Haskell at Monmouth Park or the July 28 Jim Dandy at Saratoga. “Don’t know yet,” Lukas said. “We’ll go up to Saratoga and take a look around, maybe see what some of the others are doing. We’ll be taking a hard look at the Haskell, of course, and the Jim Dandy.” Bravazo, a Calumet Farm homebred colt by Awesome Again, ran sixth in the Kentucky Derby, second in the Preakness, and sixth in the Belmont. He will be part of the 30-horse string that Lukas will send from Churchill to Saratoga shortly after the 38-day Churchill spring meet ends Saturday. Before leaving, Lukas will have action at Churchill when saddling Warrior’s Club in the $75,000 Kelly’s Landing, one of three stakes on the closing-day card. Warrior’s Club, an earner of $614,504 as the original standard-bearer for the Churchill Downs Racing Club, most recently was 10th in the Metropolitan Mile on the Belmont undercard. The Kelly’s Landing is one of three stakes on closing day, along with twin $100,000 stakes for 2-year-olds, the Bashford Manor and Debutante.
