Earlier this week, owner, breeder, and assistant trainer Erin Hlubik expressed great confidence in Bourbon Bon Bay, calling her “a superstar.” Hlubik’s faith was rewarded Friday at Parx Racing when Bourbon Bon Bay defeated a solid field of fillies and mares in the Cornucopia, one of three $75,000 handicaps on the program with the Turkey Trot for 3-year-olds and upward at a mile 70 yards and the Let’s Give Thanks for 3-year-olds and upward at 6 1/2 furlongs. Sent away the 6-1 co-third choice in the wagering, Bourbon Bon Bay ($15.80) settled into a tracking position as pacesetters Freccia d’Argento and Oxana stepped the opening quarter in 22.76 seconds. :: Save 20% on DRF PPs, Clocker Reports, and other handicapping essentials for a limited time  Shero ranged up outside entering the turn, and Bourbon Bon Bay was shuffled back from between horses. “I was [nervous] heading towards the three-eighths pole,” Hlubik said. “She was a little bit more anxious going into this race.” Freccia d’Argento and Shero raced side-by-side after a half-mile clocking of 46.69 seconds with Oxana relegated to the inside pocket. At this point, jockey Jomar Torres got Bourbon Bon Bay back into stride, and she bid outside of Shero turning into the stretch. The two exchanged bumps at the eighth pole, but Bourbon Bon Bay was unfazed. “She’s got a stubborn attitude,” Hlubik said. “She’s strong willed. She dueled.” Bourbon Bon Bay passed Shero and went on to defeat a resurgent Oxana by a length in 1:20.52. Moma Tiger was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third. Then came Sweet Willemina, Trolley Ride, Freccia d’Argento, Shero, slow-breaking Stand Up Comic, Jackie the Joker, Golden Tabby and favored Remain Anonymous. Trained by Hlubik’s husband, Ramon Martin, Bourbon Bon Bay is now unbeaten in four starts.  The Cornucopia was her first stakes appearance, and the first stakes starter for Hlubik, who describes herself as a “small breeder.” Foaled in Maryland, Bourbon Bon Bay is a 5-year-old daughter of Bourbon Courage out of the Majestic Warrior mare Sheza Dish. “She’s just my life,” Hlubik said. Turkey Trot Ridin With Biden rebounded from a fifth-place finish in last month’s M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile to win the Turkey Trot as the favorite. Ridden by Paco Lopez for trainer Butch Reid, Ridin With Biden ($5.40) relaxed while tracking the pace outside of Golden Juan and Tough Tickets through fractions of 24.23 and 49.21 seconds. Ridin With Biden confronted Tough Tickets after six furlongs in 1:14.86, and crept to the front turning into the stretch. Tough Tickets, a 53-1 outsider, gave it his all, but Ridin With Biden was too classy. The 4-year-old son of Constitution drove under the wire 1 1/4 lengths better than Tough Tickets in 1:46.92, with Lookin At Roses another 5 1/4 lengths back in third. Ridin With Biden has won 6 of 19 starts for earnings of $431,200. He captured Parx’s Grade 3 Greenwood Cup traveling 1 1/2 miles earlier this fall. Owned by Cash Is King and LC Racing, Ridin With Biden was bred in Kentucky by William Harrigan and Mike Pietrangelo. Reid credits gelding Ridin With Biden last winter as one of the main factors in the horse achieving his potential. Let’s Give Thanks Repo Rocks, making his first start for trainer Jamie Ness, stuck his neck out in the shadow of the wire to deny battling pacesetters Twisted Ride and Beren in the Let’s Give Thanks. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Join now! Repo Rocks ($21) broke slowly, but jockey Andrew Wolfsont immediately hustled him into a stalking position in the second flight while three wide and in between horses. Up front, odds-on favorite Beren rushed up from a slow start to set a 22.66 opening quarter while just inside of Twisted Ride. Those two continued their skirmish through a half in 45.96, and they they were still dueling at the three-sixteenths marker. Repo Rocks bore down on both from the outside and got there in the nick of time in 1:18.85, with Twisted Ride a length better than third finisher Beren. A 4-year-old gelding by Tapiture, Repo Rocks was claimed by Double B Racing Stables and trainer Gregory DiPrima for $40,000 during the summer of 2021. For DiPrima, Repo Rocks won three races and placed in three graded stakes. In his final start for DiPrima, Repo Rocks finished ninth of 10 in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler at Aqueduct on Oct. 29, and he was sent to Ness. “These are local connections that I train other horses for,” Ness said earlier in the week. “He was treading water up in New York and they tried a change of scenery.” Bred in Virginia by Mrs. C. Oliver Iselin III, Repo Rocks earned his first stakes victory. He has now won 5 times from 30 starts for earnings of $444,571. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
