Trainer Brian Koriner said he has considered the $400,000 Shakertown Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs for Boss Sully in recent weeks, but wanted to take advantage of Saturday’s allowance race since the 5-year-old gelding was ready for a start. “It was hard to pass up when you’re ready to go,” he said. Owned by the partnership Rusty Brown, Phil Lebherz and Alan Klein, Boss Sully was third in the Stormy Liberal Stakes at five furlongs on turf on Dec. 1 in his final start of 2024. Koriner acknowledged that the turnaround to the Shakertown is brief, but said the Kentucky stakes remains an option. “It’s quick back,” Koriner said. “We’ll see how he eats and how he’s doing.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
