OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Coming off a dominant 7 3/4-length debut victory in a six-furlong maiden race at Saratoga, Senza Parole figured to be a strong favorite in Saturday’s Grade 1, $400,000 Frizette Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Aqueduct. But Senza Parole has come up with a physical issue that will not only knock her out of the Frizette, but also out of consideration for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies next month at Del Mar, trainer Chad Brown said Thursday.“She’s done for the year,” Brown said. “We’ll bring her back in the spring. The timing’s bad. Since we can’t make the Breeders’ Cup, we’ll point her to her 3-year-old year.”Her scratch certainly leaves the Frizette a more wide-open affair. Initially a 10-horse field, the Frizette – which offers a fees-paid berth into the Juvenile Fillies – will scratch down to at least eight as Paradise City, one of two horses entered by trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., will also come out of the race.Social Fortress was an interesting Frizette contender with or without Senza Parole in the race. A daughter of Social Inclusion trained by Jamie Ness, Social Fortress has used her speed to post an 11-length victory sprinting at Delaware Park in July and then carried it a two-turn mile winning the Sorority Stakes by seven lengths at Monmouth Park on Aug. 24.“She’s run twice, blew her competition away. Obviously, it was easier competition,” Ness said. “We’re stepping up in class but she deserves a chance at this race. She’s been nothing but forward since we got her. Her workouts are dynamite.”Ness believes Social Fortress has an advantage coming into the Frizette in that she has already shipped and been successful and has won at the one-mile distance.“Most 2-year-olds haven’t gone that far yet. She handled it really well, she shipped well, she’s a really nice filly,” Ness said. “She’s been a standout in my barn since the day we got her. We hope she could continue on.”Jaime Rodriguez will ride Social Fortress from what figures to become post 7.Icona Mama, based at Penn National with trainer Flint Stites, has shipped three times, winning a maiden at Presque Isle, finishing second in the off-the-turf Bolton Landing at Saratoga, and third, beaten three-quarters of a length, in the Grade 3 Pocahontas, going a one-turn mile, at Churchill Downs.Off the Pocahontas, trainer Fred Stites said Icona Mama “had a lot of trouble on the turn. The rider had to use her a little bit to get around another horse. She went a bit quicker than I wanted too early on. We were very happy with how she ran. She showed a lot of grit and tenacity. She’s not a very big filly, she’s narrow and light, but she’s got a lot of heart.”Kendrick Carmouche has the call from the outside post. The Queens M G won the Schuylerville and Grade 3 Adirondack before finishing fifth in the Grade 1 Spinaway, all three races run during the summer meet at Saratoga.Trainer Joseph said he’s hoping the slop was the reason for the poor effort in the Spinaway.“Time will tell us if it was or not,” Joseph said. “She showed good energy since, and we trained on her a little bit this time. Running in all those races we babied her a little bit.”Pondering, a debut winner at Ellis Park, finished seventh in the Spinaway and is looking for a rebound in here for trainer Brendan Walsh.Snowyte is a maiden but trainer Danny Gargan has been high on her from the beginning and he’s willing to give her a shot in this Grade 1 race. She is by Good Magic, who finished second in his maiden race and the Grade 1 Champagne before winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. After finishing second to Quickick on debut at Saratoga, Snowyte will have blinkers added to her equipment on Saturday.“She was a little green, lost focus, and that second quarter was way too fast,” Gargan said. “If she breaks, sits second or third, gets a clean trip, she’ll run huge.”Whatintheliteral upset the Astoria field at 13-1, but stumbled and lost her rider in the Schuylerville and finished last in the Grade 3 Adirondack. Trainer Jena Antonucci shipped Whatintheliteral to Gulfstream, where she finished second in the Hallandale Beach Stakes on Sept. 14 and is now entered here.Another Cleeshay, a debut winner of a maiden auction race on Aug. 30, and Scottish Lassie, third in the maiden race in which Snowyte finished second, round out the field.
