DEL MAR, Calif. – Jockey Tyler Baze, who did not show for his rides last Thursday and after meeting with Del Mar’s stewards the following day was excused from racing Friday through Sunday to attend to what the stewards called “personal matters,” has been named on three horses for Thursday’s card. Baze has four more mounts on Friday’s card, including Freedom Lass in that day’s feature, the $100,000 California Thoroughbred Trainers and Thoroughbred Owners of California Stakes. Those are the only two cards drawn for the upcoming week so far. Saturday’s races are drawn Wednesday. Baze was fined $1,000 by the stewards – Grant Baker, Luis Jauregui, and Kim Sawyer – for missing Thursday’s races, but he faces no further action for that incident, stewards said. :: Visit the Del Mar Handicapping Store for Past Performances, Clocker Reports, Picks, Betting Strategies and more. Baze, 39, has two wins in 67 mounts this summer at Del Mar. He has 2,872 victories during his career, which began more than two decades ago and includes an Eclipse Award as champion apprentice in 2000.
