HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – What goes around doesn’t always come back around on the racetrack. But it has in the case of the 7-year-old veteran Lure Him In, who returned to trainer Sam Wilensky’s barn earlier this fall after having joined colleague Saffie Joseph Jr.’s potent stable via a private sale last winter. On Friday, Lure Him In will seek to get back on the winning track for the first time in nearly a year when he takes on five rivals, including the Joseph-trained duo of Holiday Pay and Positive Review, in the afternoon’s co-featured sixth race. The $62,000 optional-claiming and allowance race shares top billing on the card with a similarly conditioned event for fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles on the turf in the nightcap. Lure Him In was claimed by Wilensky for the Double R Racing Stable for $40,000 at Del Mar in September 2023 and won two of his three subsequent starts, including the restricted Sunshine Classic for Florida-breds here last January. But when Double R Racing sold a majority interest in the veteran to C2 Racing Stable following a second-place allowance finish a month later, the horse was transferred to Joseph who trains, among others, White Abarrio and Breeders’ Cup winner Soul of an Angel for that ownership group. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! Saffie is C2 Racing’s main trainer,” Wilensky said. “And obviously it was a happy day when he came back to us. The horse wasn’t running as well as he had for us, and I have tons of respect for both the owner and Saffie, who may have recommended the move, for bringing him back over to us again.” Lure Him In had finished off the board in four consecutive starts before being reunited with Wilensky and finishing a game third under optional-claiming and allowance conditions going a mile here Nov. 22. He moved a bit prematurely to challenge for the lead while racing wide around the turn before tiring from the effort and ultimately checking in 3 1/4 lengths behind the heavily favored Grade 2 stakes winner Steal Sunshine. “I thought he ran really well off the layoff last time, got beat by a great horse who he probably isn’t as good as, although I think he would have definitely been a lot closer second if he hadn’t moved so early,” Wilensky said. “It looks like Saffie has the horses to beat in this race. But there seems to be a ton of speed in the field, so hopefully we can get a rail trip without much kickback and they will come back to us.” Holiday Pay will be facing older horses in his 3-year-old finale after finishing fourth as the tepid favorite in an overnight handicap going seven furlongs Nov. 9. In his previous start, Holiday Pay proved a popular 3 1/2-length winner going a mile against softer optional-claiming and allowance company than Friday’s headliner, earning a lifetime-best 85 Beyer Speed Figure. Positive Review has been freshened since finishing a non-threatening fifth over a muddy track in the Benny the Bull Stakes on Aug. 24. His lone win in five starts in 2024 came in a one-mile overnight handicap here June 22. Secret Chat is coming off a career-best performance, a 3 3/4-length allowance win going seven furlongs in a restricted Florida-bred race for which he received an 86 Beyer. He will be skipping a condition while still looking for his first win at a mile. Random Harvest likely chalk The undefeated Random Harvest, who scratched out of the Tropical Park Oaks Derby on Saturday, will likely be favored in a full and very competitive field in the finale. Random Harvest is perfect in two promising starts. She won her debut by 3 1/2 widening lengths going a mile at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 7 before returning to capture an entry-level allowance race by 1 1/4 lengths despite breaking from the extreme outside post in a 12-horse field while stretching to 1 3/16 miles seven weeks later at Keeneland. :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. Available every race day.  “We’re quite excited about her. She’s a nice filly to be around, she does everything the right way and is just classy top to bottom,” said Random Harvest’s trainer, James Toner. A half-sister to Grade 1 winner Full Count Felicia, Random Harvest is one of only two 3-year-olds in the race. The other is Strike When Ready, a key contender in her own right who is exiting a fourth-place finish in a second-level allowance event Oct. 26 at Keeneland that was won easily by Kehoe Beach, who flattered the race when returning to win the Mrs. Revere Stakes in her next start. ◗ An unexpected victory by the 28-1 Center Stage in last Sunday’s finale led to one lucky bettor having the only perfect ticket in the Rainbow 6 for which they collected a payoff of $489,592. The winning bettor played a $259 ticket through TwinSpires. The Rainbow 6 had gone unsolved over the previous 11 racing programs dating back to a mandatory payout on Nov. 24. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
