It was a good night to be a Keith Asmussen on Tuesday at Lone Star Park. The apprentice Keith James Asmussen won his first stakes race aboard Super Stock in the $100,000 colts and geldings division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity. He was aboard the horse for his grandfather, Keith Asmussen, who co-owns Super Stock with Erv Woolsey. One race later, Keith Asmussen and Woolsey won the $100,000 fillies division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity with Kandy Ginger. Both of the horses are trained by Steve Asmussen, the son of Keith Asmussen and the father of Keith James Asmussen. The stakes were the richest of four restricted offerings on the penultimate card of the meet. The season closes Wednesday night with a mandatory payout in the Texas Six Shooter, which has a carryover of $182,976. Super Stock ($5.60) was winning his first race in the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity. He was with the pace through an opening quarter in 22.30 seconds, was part of a five-horse wall coming into the stretch, and went on to a 3 1/2-length win over Lucky Promise. Kandy Ginger ($2.80) remained undefeated in two starts, when she rallied for a 3 1/4-length win in her division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity. She covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.36. Kandy Ginger won a maiden special weight over male rivals in her other career start June 3 at Lone Star. Jockey Stewart Elliott was aboard that afternoon and on Tuesday also rode the daughter of Kantharos.  Redatory ($5.40) won his third stakes race of the year when taking his second straight $50,000 Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame Stakes on Tuesday. Redatory stalked the pace in third and pushed past leader Kenai Bob in the stretch for a half-length win. It was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third to Sunlit Song. Redatory covered the 1 1/16 miles on firm turf in 1:42.21. Lane Luzzi was aboard the son of Oratory for breeder and owner James Wessel and trainer Allen Dupuy. Redatory won last year’s Hall of Fame at Retama Park. This year, the race was moved to Lone Star after the coronavirus pandemic led to only Quarter Horse dates being run at Retama in 2020. Redatory’s other stakes wins this year have come in the $75,000 Houston Turf in February at Sam Houston and the $75,000 Richard King in June at Lone Star. Ima Discreet Lady ($9) won the fourth stakes race of her career when she held off Corluna by a half-length in the $50,000 Fiesta Mile. The race also was transferred to Lone Star from Retama. Ima Discreet Lady set fractions of 24.18 for the opening quarter, 48.74 for the half-mile, and 1:12.79 for six furlongs before completing the distance on firm ground in 1:36.32. Ramon Vazquez was aboard for the partnership of Raymond Todd White and Duane Coker. Karl Broberg trains the daughter of Discreet Cat.
