Arcangelo, who seized control of the 3-year-old division by following up his Belmont Stakes victory with a Travers Stakes score, will stand at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky upon his eventual retirement from racing. Arcangelo, by Arrogate, currently races for Jon Ebbert's Blue Rose Farm after the owner purchased him at the 2021 Keeneland September yearling sale. The colt has won three straight graded stakes for trainer Jena Antonucci, taking the Grade 3 Peter Pan in May at Belmont; winning the Belmont Stakes in June by 1 1/2 lengths over Eclipse Award champion Forte; and then winning the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, holding off Disarm by a length in an outstanding field that also included Forte, Kentucky Derby winner Mage, and Preakness Stakes winner National Treasure. He is currently at Santa Anita, training toward the Nov. 4 Breeders' Cup Classic.  :: Bet with the Best! I'm so blessed the way everything unfolded and so appreciative of my team. To win the Belmont, the Travers and looking as the possible favorite in the Breeders' Cup is incredible. From the beginning of this journey, I tried to make every right decision for this horse, and now I have another important one to make. Upon his retirement, I've chosen Lane's End as the perfect fit for his stallion career.” Arcangelo will represent a unique opportunity as a stallion, as he will be a rare top-level son from one of just three crops produced by the brilliant Hall of Famer Arrogate before his death in 2020. Arrogate, whose final foals are hitting the track as 2-year-olds this season, is the sire of 12 stakes winners to date, led by classic winner Arcangelo, Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath, and Grade 1 winners And Tell Me Nolies, Cave Rock, and Fun to Dream. With the death of Cave Rock this summer due to laminitis as a complication of colic surgery, Arcangelo is currently Arrogate's only living Grade 1-winning son. Arcangelo is also from an outstanding female family. His great-granddam is Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour, who produced Eclipse champion Rags to Riches, winner of the 2007 Kentucky Oaks and Belmont Stakes; Jazil, who won the Belmont the prior year; and two other stakes winners. Better Than Honour is out of Kentucky Oaks winner and blue hen Blush With Pride. “Arcangelo’s historic 3-year-old campaign fits a profile that we are very familiar with on our stallion roster,” said Lane’s End’s Bill Farish. “There’s no doubt that Arrogate’s brief career at stud has had a major impact on racing, and the opportunity to stand a classic-winning son of his with such a deep pedigree makes Arcangelo an exciting and unique prospect for Lane’s End.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
