Irish Hazel V. parlayed a stalking trip into her first stakes win on Saturday, when she rallied for a half-length score over All About Maty in the $43,450 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Oaks at Arapahoe Park. Sweet Dixie Van, the 2-5 favorite who was seeking to remain perfect against Colorado-breds, finished an even fifth. The mile and 70-yard race was her first start at two turns.  Irish Hazel V. ($18) settled into fifth as pacesetter Java Jitters was pressed by Easter Hero through fractions of 25.08 seconds, , 49.79, and 1:14.26. Irish Hazel V. overtook the leaders and covered the distance on a track rated fast in 1:45.47. Kelly Bridges rode the winner for owner-breeder Daniel Vernetti and trainer Rick Houghton. Irish Hazel V. has now won 2 of 3 starts and $34,260. She is a 3-year-old daughter of the Grindstone stallion Starstone.
