Eight-year-old Another Mystery won his third race in a row and 11th from 42 lifetime starts when he got up by 1 1/4 lengths in the Mystery Giver Handicap on Sunday at Hawthorne Race Course. Carrying top weight of 123 pounds, including jockey Orlando Mojica, Another Mystery was racing at a 1 1/16-mile distance short of his best, but his class carried him home in this grass race for older Illinois-breds. Facing just three rivals, Another Mystery ranged into contention around the far turn but needed most of the homestretch to push pass his Chris Block-trained stablemate, Towering Storm, literally half Another Mystery’s age. Another Mystery hit full flight at the furlong grounds and edged clear through the last 100 yards, winning for the fifth time in six grass races against Illinois-breds. Towering Storm had one length on third-place Silver Quarters, who finished well from far behind the early leader, Man of Attack, who tired and brought up the rear. Another Mystery was only narrowly favored over Towering Storm, paying $4.20. He was timed in 1:43.53 over a very firm course. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Another Mystery is by Temple City out of the Lord At War mare Ioya Two, a sister to Mystery Giver, a multiple open stakes winner during his racing career. Mystery Giver, Ioya Two, and Another Mystery all were bred and owned by Team Block and trained by Chris Block. So was Towering Storm, who has at least a mildly bright future finishing second to Another Mystery while making only his third start. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
