American Lion last ran in the Kentucky Derby, finishing 11th behind winner Super Saver, also owned by WinStar.“American Lion had a setback after the Derby that has prevented him from getting back to his best form and fulfilling his great potential,” WinStar racing manager Elliott Walden said.
