American Dreamin overcame a slightly tardy start to win her stakes debut in Sunday’s $1,073,800 Golden State Million Futurity at Los Alamitos. The win extended American Dreamin’s win streak to three races, all since she arrived at Los Alamitos from New Mexico in late summer. Ridden by Armando Cervantes, American Dreamin broke in the air, but recovered quickly to be second to Lethal Cowboy in the first 100 yards. Join DRF Bets. Sent off favored, American Dreamin ($3.40) was timed in 19.76 seconds. Lethal Cowboy 123 (7-1) held second, a neck in front of 15-1 Cartel Perry in the field of 10. American Dreamin earned $439,656 for owners Matt and Bendi Dunn and trainer Monty Arrossa, who are having a spectacular year in the major stakes for 2-year-old Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos. Their filly Up to Party won the Ed Burke Million Futurity in June and the Governor’s Cup Futurity in September. Up to Party was held out of the Golden State Million Futurity in favor of the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, which has trials on Nov. 24 and a final on Dec. 15. Arrossa said on Monday that American Dreamin will be considered for the Los Alamitos Two Million. American Dreamin, who is by Apollitical Jess, has won 3 of 5 starts and earned $534,300.
