HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – As a half-sister to a horse who has earned nearly $2.5 million in turf marathons, Dyna Passer would seem to have her best days still ahead. And when Tom Albertrani saddles Dyna Passer for her 4-year-old debut in the Sunday feature at Gulfstream Park, he’s hoping the emulation of her older half-brother Sadler’s Joy will begin in earnest. “She definitely wants to go longer, just like Sadler’s Joy,” Albertrani said. Dyna Passer, with Javier Castellano to ride, figures as an obvious favorite in the only allowance of an 11-race Sunday card. Nine fillies and mares, including one main track-only designate, are entered in the race 10 feature, a $51,000, first-level race scheduled for 1 3/16 miles on the turf. Sadler’s Joy, still active at 7, is a multiple graded winner with a textbook from-the-clouds closing style. Dyna Passer has proven more tactical in her nine career starts, and Albertrani expects her to be sharp when making her first start since finishing fifth in the Grade 2 Sands Point at Belmont Park in October. :: Get a closer look at the Gulfstream Park card with the DRF Clocker Report Both Sadler’s Joy (by Kitten’s Joy) and Dyna Passer (by Lemon Drop Kid) were bred by their owners, the Woodslane Farm of Rene and Lauren Woolcott. Both were produced by the Dynaformer mare Dynaire. “We tried to get one more race out of Dyna Passer last year, in the Winter Memories at Aqueduct,” Albertrani said. “But they canceled the races that day, and we opted to just ship her south shortly afterward. “The object Sunday is to get the one race in her and hopefully move on to bigger and better things. I wouldn’t expect fitness or the distance to be any problem. She’s been training right along and didn’t miss much time at all, so we’re hoping for a solid effort.” :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Dyna Passer faced some of the best 3-year-old fillies of 2019, including Concrete Rose, Edisa, New and Improved, and Cambier Parc, among others. After winning a maiden race on the Belmont turf in May, three of her four subsequent starts came in stakes company, except for when she was a close third in a three-way photo at Saratoga in her only try at a first-level allowance. If Dyna Passer is to somehow be thwarted in her comeback, the most likely upsetters include Whispering Beauty, a decent fourth at this level in her North American debut on Jan. 30, or perhaps the Michael Matz pair of Beale Street and Monhegan. First post Sunday is 12:35 p.m. Eastern, with the feature going at 5:04. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 73. The feature is part of a program that includes four $50,000 maiden special weights (races 1, 4, 6, 7) for 3-year-old fillies, many of them expensive bluebloods from high-profile stables. After Sunday, Gulfstream goes dark for two days before a five-day race week begins Wednesday.
