Lone Star Park will be charting some new territory on Tuesday, when it puts on a nine-race card led by a first-level allowance sprint for fillies and mares. The Dallas-area track will be getting its first read on the local appetite for Tuesday racing. Lone Star was scheduled to allow spectators onsite for the first time this season Sunday -- and in the past has rarely raced on Tuesdays. But this meet Tuesday cards are a staple because of changes made to the racing calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic. The announcement that patrons would be able to return this week has been well received by horsemen like Steve Asmussen, the Hall of Famer who leads the current standings at his hometrack of Lone Star. :: Start earning weekly cashback on your wagering today. We want people out there to see.”  Asmussen saddles Al Shamkhah in the featured eighth, and she will start as one of the top choices. Her seven rivals in the seven-furlong race include Wishful Quality, a five-time winner, and the promising Distorted Flash. Al Shamkah last raced at this level on the May 22 opener at Lone Star and closed for fourth when cutting back from two turns to one. She will break from post 5 under Stewart Elliott, who led the rider standings at Lone Star through Saturday. Asmussen had won 15 races from 64 starts at the meet through Saturday. Wishful Quality was third in the same race Al Shamkhah exits, a race in which she set a pressured pace. Wishful Quality has more natural speed than most of her rivals Tuesday and could control the pace or get a tracking trip behind Distorted Flash. Ramon Vazquez has the mount from post 6 for trainer Terry Brennan. Distorted Flash will break from post 2, one start after winning her maiden from the same gate at this seven-furlong distance Feb. 8 at Sam Houston. She wired the field and the Beyer Speed Figure of 73 that she earned is the best last-race number in the field Tuesday. Luis Quinonez has been named to ride by trainer Joe Offolter. :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter The card also includes three maiden special weight races, including one for 3-year-olds and up over five furlongs on turf. It goes as the fifth and is led by an entry for breeder and owner Richard Chandler and trainer Mindy Willis. Let’s Go Alamo comes off a runner-up finish at the distance and looks like the horse to beat. The start will be the debut for the other half of the entry, Capt. St. Jacques. “He’s a nice 3-year-old,” Willis said. “I think eventually he’ll want to run long. He needs to run now. He’s ready." Lindey Wade is named to ride, while David Cabrera has the mount on Let’s Go Alamo. First post is 1:35 p.m. Central.
