Glee capped a memorable Remington Park season with a 10 3/4-length win in the $75,000 Toby Keith Stakes on closing night Dec. 13 and is now bound for Oaklawn Park, according to trainer Steve Asmussen. Glee made two starts at the Remington meet, both in stakes. She won the E.L. Gaylord at 6 1/2 furlongs by more than 15 lengths on the Oklahoma Derby undercard Sept. 29. Glee then moved to two turns for the first time in the Toby Keith and stalked the pace in third in the one-mile race before drawing out to another clear win. Glee defeated stakes winner Tapitures Actor and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 74. “She ran really well at Remington – she obviously loves the place,” Asmussen said. “We’re probably going to give her a shot at Oaklawn and see how it goes.” :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! She was voted Remington’s top 2-year-old filly of the meet, the track announced Wednesday. Flashy Lass to Houston Glee gave Asmussen two stakes wins on the closing night card at Remington. Earlier in the evening, he sent out Flashy Lass to win her third straight race in the $75,000 She’s All In. “She had a very productive year and needed to cap it off with a stakes win,” Asmussen said of her first victory at the stakes level. Flashy Lass is likely headed for Sam Houston Race Park. “We’re probably going to swing for the fences in the Houston Ladies Classic,” Asmussen said of the Grade 3, $300,000 race on Jan. 25. Flashy Lass earned a Beyer of 82 for the She’s All In. The daughter of Street Boss races for Gus King. Asmussen won the Remington training title for the 19th time last Friday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
