Admire Daytona and Heart of Honor, the one-two finishers from last Saturday’s U.A.E. Derby at Meydan, head the list of five 3-year-olds who were made late nominees to the Triple Crown by their connections, it was announced Tuesday. Also nominated by Monday’s second deadline, at a cost of $6,000, were Colloquial, winner of Monday’s Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland; Brereton’s Baytown, fifth in the Arkansas Derby; and Just a Fair Shake, recent winner of a first-level allowance race at Laurel. Admire Daytona and Heart of Honor have qualified for the Kentucky Derby, should their connections choose to come. Admire Daytona, a Japanese-bred son of Drefong trained by Yuhiro Kato for Junko Kondo, has won 2 of 6 starts. Heart of Honor, an English-bred son of Honor A. P., is trained by Jamie Osborne for Jim and Claire Limited, also has won 2 of 6 starts. :: KENTUCKY DERBY 2025: Top contenders, point standings, prep schedule, news, and more Colloquial, Brereton’s Baytown, and Just a Fair Shake would not qualify for the Kentucky Derby on points should more than 20 horses enter the race as expected, but they are now eligible to for the Preakness on May 17 and the Belmont Stakes on June 7 at Saratoga.
