ARCADIA, Calif. – Adare Manor, second by a neck in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks as an odds-on favorite April 9, is under strong consideration for the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on May 20 at Pimlico. If she starts in the $250,000 race for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles, Adare Manor will have her third trainer in as many starts. Sean McCarthy said Sunday that he began training Adare Manor in April, shortly after the filly raced for trainer Tim Yakteen in the Santa Anita Oaks. Adare Manor was trained by Bob Baffert earlier this year until he began a 90-day suspension for a medication violation found in Medina Spirit, the first-place finisher in the 2021 Kentucky Derby. For Baffert, Adare Manor won her stakes debut in the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes at a mile by 13 lengths on Feb. 6. Several of Baffert’s leading runners were sent to Yakteen earlier this spring, with the bulk of the stable going to McCarthy. In the Santa Anita Oaks, Adare Manor was always near the front and was narrowly beaten by Desert Dawn, who finished third as a longshot in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks last Friday at Churchill Downs. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures Saturday at Santa Anita, Adare Manor worked seven furlongs in 1:25.20.
