Blazing Sevens Good Magic –Trophy Girl, by Warrior’s Reward Bred in Kentucky by Tracy Farmer ($140,000 Keeneland January yearling purchase by Chestnut Valley Farm; $225,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling purchase by Rodeo Creek Racing) Along with Eclipse Award champion Forte’s season debut in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream, another prominent member of this class will return to the stage in the Gulfstream Park prep – Grade 1 winner Blazing Sevens. The colt is by a young stallion from a proven classic sireline, and from a female family whose eclectic accomplishments also hint at stamina. Blazing Sevens is one of several graded stakes winners from the first crop of Eclipse Award champion juvenile Good Magic, a multiple Grade 1 winner who was second to Triple Crown winner Justify in the 2018 Kentucky Derby. Good Magic is by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, who competed with distinction in all three 2007 Triple Crown races, with a win in the Preakness Stakes. He is the sire of 2013 Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and 2014 Preakness winner Exaggerator, with six other offspring finishing on the board in Triple Crown races. One of those, Keen Ice, went on to sire 2022 Derby winner Rich Strike. Trophy Girl is a half-sister to King David, winner of the Grade 1 Jamaica Handicap at 1 1/8 miles on turf, and to Bertsgoldenmissile, a stakes winner at seven furlongs on dirt. The third dam of Trophy Girl is Prix de l’Opera winner Hortensia, who won at up to 1 5/16 miles. She is the dam of Group 3 winner Glacial Storm, who was second in the Epsom Derby and third in the Irish Derby while winning at up to 1 15/16 miles; and Cheshire Oaks winner Chaudennay, who won at up to 1 9/16 miles.
