Hello You will race as far as a mile for the first time in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 5 at Del Mar, and trainer Dave Loughnane thinks the distance will suit her. Hello You earned a fees-paid berth to the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf with her win in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes on Sept. 24 at Newmarket. The victory was Hello You’s first in a stakes. Loughnane said the seven-furlong Rockfel should have Hello You well prepared to stretch out a furlong in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. :: BREEDERS’ CUP 2021: See DRF’s special section with top contenders, odds, comments, news, and more for each division “The uphill finish is pretty stiff at Newmarket,” Loughnane said earlier this week in a phone interview from his base in England. “I think she’ll be better at a mile. She came out of the Rockfel very well. She has come on mentally as well as physically.” Hello You gave Loughnane his first group stakes win at Newmarket and will be his first starter in the United States. Owned by Amo Racing, Hello You will start in her first Grade 1 in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. “It would cap the year fantastically,” Loughnane said. A native of Ireland, Loughnane opened his stable with seven horses in the mid-2010s and now has 70 in his care. Hello You is the most successful in a team that includes the promising 2-year-old Go Bears Go, who won the Group 2 Railway Stakes at The Curragh in Ireland in June. The same month, Lola Showgirl and Ffion swept the exacta for Loughnane in the Kensington Palace Stakes for fillies and mares at Royal Ascot. Loughnane rates Hello You as one of the top “seven or eight” 2-year-old fillies in England, although few of those rivals are expected to be sent to California. In the Rockfel, Hello You finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of runner-up Cachet, who returned to finish third to the highly regarded Inspiral in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile on Oct. 8 at Newmarket. As much as there is anticipation for a trip to the Breeders’ Cup, Loughnane has high goals for Hello You in 2022. “We like to think she could be a Guineas filly,” he said, referring to the Group 1 English 1000 Guineas for 3-year-old fillies at Newmarket in May. Jockey Rossa Ryan, also from Ireland, has ridden Hello You in five of her six starts, including a second in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at six furlongs at Royal Ascot in June. Ryan is expected to have the mount at Del Mar. The Juvenile Fillies Turf will be the next start for Koala Princess, winner of the $500,000 Ainsworth Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on Sept. 12 at Kentucky Downs. Trainer Arnaud Delacour considered starting Koala Princess in Wednesday’s Grade 2 Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland, but opted to pass. Wednesday, Koala Princess breezed a half-mile in 48 seconds at the Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland. “I didn’t think she was doing quite as well as before Kentucky Downs,” Delacour said. “I thought it would be best to pass on the Jessamine. I thought it would make a lot more sense.”
